The biggest mistakes are usually the simplest ones. Starbucks strong nurse shirt I had a run of two hundred valve bodies that I was running on a Mazak lathe. It was a fairly simple operation, using, I think five tools on a program that took about five minutes to run. That particular machine had a touch probe, but for some reason, it wasn’t part of the program, so I had to manually set the zero plane of the Y travel. After many, many repetitions, I screwed up and forgot that step. The first tool ran hard enough into the part to lock the spindle and trip the automatic shut-off. I had to shut down the machine, lockout the power and re-calibrate the tool holder which had been hit hard. It was about two hours of downtime and one destroyed tool holder. All in all, not too bad, and I never forgot to zero the machine again!
